Hi, I'm a new bear maker. But I'm an artist and have been painting with acrylics for quite sometime. First, I would use artist grade acrylics like Liquitex. The craft acrylics do not have very good pigments and the binders are rather weak. They don't hold up well when thinned. Next time I would use an acrylic medium & water to thin your paint. It you use all water all you have left is mostly pigment and no binder and it changes thecharacteristics of the binder leaving you with the whit over the pigment particles. I hope this helps. ~Robin

Thanks for the info. What I ended up doing was I took the dog apart and then I ran it thru the washer on gentle cycle. That remove 98% of the color, then I used gray rit dye and finished off with shading the black with copic markers. Client was pleased with the dog, even thro I think that it was not as cute as it should have been
